Barrington Hills

Incorporated in 1957, the Village of Barrington Hills is home to approximately 4,000 people and a myriad of wildlife, straddling about 30 square miles in Kane, Lake, Cook and McHenry counties. Housing is single-family only, on predominantly 5-acre lots. Residents are served by one of three park districts - Barrington, Barrington/Countryside or Dundee - and two school districts.

Many major highways in the area provide easy access to Chicago and nearby suburbs. O'Hare International Airport is just 23 miles away via the Northwest Tollway (I-90). Lake in the Hills Airport, a public facility serving charter and business passengers, is about 8 miles away. Area public transportation options include Pace Suburban Bus running along the Barrington Road Corridor, and the Metra train with daily service to Chicago.

As part of the larger Barrington Area, village residents enjoy a wide range of shopping, dining, entertainment and social opportunities. Historic downtown Barrington hosts numerous boutiques, specialty shops and restaurants. The Arboretum, in nearby South Barrington, is a $200 million development featuring the Village Roadshow Gold Class theater and the combination winery and "white tablecloth" restaurant, Cooper's Hawks. This brand new lifestyle center also offers upscale retailers and services plus a nationally recognized kids' play area. Another popular shopping destination is the Foundry - an outdoor mall with a strong base of locally owned and operated stores. Nearby Deer Park Town Center is yet another award-winning shopping venue.
