Incorporated in 1958, the Village of Hawthorn Woods is a residential community boasting more than 2,300 homes, all situated on one-acre parcels of land spread over 3.7 square miles.

If you arrive by airplane, O'Hare Airport is approximately 30 minutes from the Village and Midway Airport is approximately one hour from the Village.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin is about one hour to the north of Hawthorn Woods."

Hawthorn Woods is part of the larger Lake Zurich area in Ela Township which also includes the villages of Kildeer, Long Grove and Deer Park. Ela Township is named after George Ela, an early settler who arrived in the area in 1835.

"The Village of Hawthorn Woods Recreation Department is continuing to grow and expand with each new season. The beautiful parks and the recreational facilities in Hawthorn Woods enhance the quality of life for all residents – they provide open space and aesthetically pleasing landscapes and state-of-the-art community gathering places.
