Wheeling
Formerly an overnight stop for travelers from Chicago headed to the Wisconsin Territory, the Village of Wheeling has emerged as a well-rounded community in Chicago's booming northwest suburbs. The string of inns, taverns and eateries established in the 1830's was the start of what is now Wheeling's renowned Restaurant Row.
Today, the village offers a wide range of housing styles and options from single family home is older tree-lined neighborhoods to well-maintained condominium developments. The number of businesses in the village has also more than doubled since 1981.

Commuters benefit from easy access to Interstate 294, as well as from Metra rail service on the North Central Line via the Wheeling Metra Station. Community Consolidated School District 21 and Prospect Heights School District 23 serve the Village of Wheeling for primary and middle school education. Wheeling's secondary education students attend Township High School District 214's Wheeling and Buffalo Grove High Schools. Both schools offer a full range of courses, with emphasis on college preparatory curriculum.
