Green Oaks

A small community located approximately 30 miles north of O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, the Village of Green Oaks is rich in the tradition and pleasantries of quiet country living. Residents enjoy excellent schools, access to major highways and tollways, single family homes on large lots and a growing commercial and retail business district.

Some of the earliest settlers moved into the area in the 1840's, when land was still available for $1.25 and acre. Green Oaks was founded in 1960, with a population of 150, as a municipal barrier to intense urban and industrial expansion of neighboring areas. The population within the 12 square mile village increased 1000% from 1960 to 1985, and it is expected to grow steadily in the next 15 years. Controlling growth continues to be a challenge in maintaining a high quality of life in Green Oaks.
