Located along I-94 in Lake County and 38 miles from downtown Chicago, the Village of Lincolnshire was incorporated in 1957. The residential character is largely one-half acre lots and larger with most of the residential development located east of the Des Plaines River. West of the river, a growing commercial and corporate office tax base includes Marriott Resort, several restaurants and retail areas and a corporate center which is home to several Fortune 500 companies.
The City of Highland Park is located 23 miles north of Chicago's Loop. Neighboring communities include Highwood and Lake Forest to the north, Glencoe and Winnetka to the south.
According to a Village of Lincolnshire 1997 Resident Survey, the "Top 10 Resident Favorites" list includes trees/wooded lots, schools, location, small town, residential lot sizes, quiet/peaceful, safety/security, highway access, neighbors and parks.
Fun things to do in Lincolnshire include riding the bike paths, spending the day at Spring Lake Park's beach, shopping the boutiques, visiting Florsheim Nature Preserve, canoeing the Des Plaines from the Rivershire Park canoe launch, and much more.
The first school to open in Highland Park was Elm Place School - in 1869! Today, 140 years later, more than 4,400 Highland Park elementary and middle schoolers attend the 11 distinguished schools in North Shore School District 112. High school kids attend either Highland Park High School or Deerfield High School, both operated by Township High School District 113.
