CARETAKER'S COTTAGE
The 7 room caretaker's cottage was designed and built at the same time as the main home. In keeping with the design plan it is reminisce of cottages built to accompany eighteenth and nineteenth century Virgina estates. The original cottage had two bedrooms and one bath but was expanded in 2007 to add a high-ceilinged primary bedroom, office and new primary bath.
The kitchen has been updated with white cabinetry and granite countertops. The home has hardwood floors with the exception of the bedrooms. A charming fireplace warms the living room.
A large lower level playroom, laundry and storage room complete the interior. Outside one will find a charming patio with a vine-covered pergola.
OUTBUILDING
Also included in the original design was a symmetrical outbuilding
designed to imitate a small barn on the property. This building can be
divided into two areas.
The unfinished section features garage space for 2-3 cars, dog kennels and an extremely spacious work room area. There are pull-down attic stairs to access the fully floored attic space.
In the finished section are two vaulted ceiling rooms. One features a skylight and has access to a half bath and kitchenette. The second has a charming fireplace with sliding doors to the paver patio with veiws of the meadow.
GARAGE
In 2007 when the caretaker's cotttage was expanded an additional heated, 3 1/2 car garage was added to the property, utilizing the same qualilty materials and design to match the existing home.
The main home has an attached two-car garage, the outbuilding has a 2-3 car garage and there is the separate 3 1/2 car addition.
10 FOOT CEILINGS
The first floor of the main home features 10 foot ceilings and the
second floor has nine foot ceilings. There are also volume ceilings in the cottage and outbuilding.
LOWER LEVEL AND MECHANICALS
The basement is full with the exception of three small crawl areas and is unfinished. The house was built to quality standards and is poured concrete. There are multiple rooms in the basement with a 1/2 bath.
The main home has 16 zones for heating and cooling for maximum comfort. The smoke alarm system, (16) Honeywell thermostats and security system were updated in 2020. The two A.O. Smith 75-gallon water heaters were replaced in 2012. There are two interior entrances to the basement.
There is one electric service and water service for all the buildings but three separate gas meters.
There is Phase 3 electricity for efficiency.
HARDWOOD FLOORS
The living room and dining room are floored in random width
hardwood flooring with the primary wing, library and second floor also
in hardwood.
FIREPLACES
There are four wood buring fireplaces within the main home. The living room and library have marble surrounds and mantels with the primary bedroom having a wood surround and flush stone base and the family room has a raised stone hearth with rustic wood beamed mantel.
Both the caretaker's cottage and outbuilding also feature fireplaces.
LUDOWICI TILE ROOF
Ludowici tile roof tops all of the buildings on the property. Over the one story sections there are flat roofs which were replaced in 2018.
BRICK EXTERIOR
All of the buildings on the property are of beautifully maintained brick. With wide gutters trimmed with wood details the gutters appear as ornamentation.

BLUESTONE PATIOS
Bluestone patios run across the southern side of the main home.
Brick walls topped with stone border the main patio which is
highlighted with a fountain and four sleek stone containers for
seasonal flowers.
The cottage has a lovely vine-covered pergola over the patio and off
the west side of the outbuilding there is a paver patio.
LANDSCAPE
Natural meadows run along the southern fence line of the main property. There is a significant uplighting of the lovely mature trees
on the property.
The backyard is fenced with a split rail/wired fence. An underground water sprinkler system, manually operated, keeps a portion of the expansive lawn watered.
