DePaul is a wealthy sub-neighborhood located within Lincoln Park on Chicago's North Side. The neighborhood takes its name from DePaul University's 36-acre campus, which is located within the neighborhood. However, many know the area alternatively as "Sheffield," named after one of the major north-south thoroughfares that runs through the neighborhood.
Next to its sister neighborhood, DePaul is one of Chicago's most coveted areas for real estate. Housing is strikingly similar to that of Lincoln Park, in architecture and value. On the tree-lined streets you'll find an interesting mix of newly built condos and vintage stone and redbrick walk-ups. Most of the brick buildings were installed shortly after the Great Fire of 1871.

Transportation options abound with the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94 / 90) and Lake Shore drive about one mile in each direction. The CTA Red Line and Brown Line both run on an elevated track that bisects the neighborhood just to the east of North Sheffield Avenue. Both lines stop at the Fullerton station, and the Brown Line also stops at Armitage. Buses run along Halsted Street and Fullerton, Armitage and Lincoln Avenues.
With the theaters, shops, restaurants, summer festivals and bars of Lincoln Park nearby, DePaul is a highly desirable area. Plus, Lincoln Park (the park along Lake Michigan) and the Lincoln Park Zoo is just a few blocks walk.
Many excellent public and private schools are available in the DePaul neighborhood. Lincoln Park High School, a magnet school, is one of the top public schools in Illinois, serving the greater Lincoln Park community. Mayer Elementary School and St. James Lutheran School are also located within DePaul's boundaries.
