Chicago - Wicker Park

Chamber of Commerce

Part of the West-Town community area, the Wicker Park neighborhood was founded by the Wicker brothers in the 1870s and named for the triangular-shaped public park the brothers donated to the city. Large residences line the park and nearby streets. Some of the best examples of Victorian-era architecture can be seen on Pierce and Hoyne Streets.

An explosion of development in Wicker Park continues today, with restaurants and entertainment co-mingling with classy shops that offer everything from couturier garments to contemporary and antique home furnishings. The local art scene has become known for exciting new work, with good venues to exhibit and perform like the Double Door and the Empty Bottle. The long-running Around the Coyote festival is an annual gathering of the neighborhood's artistic highlights.

Transportation is convenient in Wicker Park with the CTA's Blue Line elevated train and the major arteries of North, Milwaukee, and Damen converging upon the center of the area.
