Mundelein
The Village of Mundelein, a vibrant and progressive community of nearly 32,000 residents, is situated in the center of beautiful Lake County, Illinois—one of the strongest areas of commercial and industrial growth in the nation, with excellent housing, recreation, educational, and business opportunities.

Boasting a long and rich history, the village was settled in 1835. English emigrants came to the area later and built churches and schools, expanding the settlement to the Diamond Lake area. In 1924, the village adopted its present name in honor of Archbishop George Mundelein of Chicago and his successful completion of St. Mary's of the Lake Seminary.
The Village of Mundelein is located 35 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. There are two Metra train stations in the area - one is in Mundelein and the other is in neighboring Libertyville. Both rail stations are part of the the North Central Service Line which travels from Antioch to Chicago.
The award-winning Mundelein Park and Recreation District maintains 33 neighborhood parks which are conveniently located throughout the Village to serve thousands of residents year round. The jewels of the park system include: Barefoot Bay Water Park, Steeplechase Golf Course, Parkview Health and Fitness Center, the Mundelein Senior Center, Diamond Lake Beach, Community Park, bicycle trails with access to a beautiful county forest preserve system, and the Fort Hill Heritage Museum. The village has seven public golf courses located within or adjacent to its boundaries. Residents also enjoy boating, fishing, skating, swimming, and hiking or biking the many local forest preserve trails.
The Village of Mundelein boasts steady economic development which brings quality business opportunities and unique housing options. Mundelein offers an abundance of recreational opportunities that include all the the Chicago and Milwaukee areas have to offer. Our outstanding golf, parks, schools and community services make Mundelein a truly great place to live, work and play.
