Located in the Chicago Metro area within Lake County on the shores of Lake Michigan - between Chicago and Milwaukee - The Village of Beach Park dates back as far as 1908 when the railroad lines from Chicago to Milwaukee were first discussed.
Beach Park is located approximately 45 miles north of downtown Chicago. Its nearest neighbors are Waukegan, Zion, Winthrop Harbor, Wadsworth and Gurnee.
"Beach Park is linked to other lakeshore communities by a Pace bus line running along Sheridan Road, and the Metra Chicago & North Western/North Line with stations in Waukegan and Zion. Access to Chicago and Milwaukee can also be attained via Interstate 94."

Illinois Beach State Park's South Unit is also located in Beach Park. "The Illinois Beach State Park is the only remaining beach ridge shoreline left in the state. There are more than 650 species of plants in the dunes area alone, making for wonderful sights while on a nature stroll. The park offers activities including bike rentals and hiking paths, picnicking, fishing and swimming. The Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center is located within the park boundaries."

"Beach Park shares their recreational services with Zion and Waukegan. Illinois Beach State Park, located along Lake Michigan, forms the community's eastern boundary and has considerable impact on the character of the community.
In 2004, Beach Park opened its first Village park. Located off Holdridge Avenue behind Howe School, the new Geo-Karis Park is host to many different activities including trips for seniors, senior picnics, senior holiday parties and the Luck O' Irish Dinner party. For the youths in the community, the village sponsors a number of events including the annual Egg Hunt, holiday parties and the Ghost Walk."
