Grayslake

Established in 1895, the Village of Grayslake is located approximately 40 miles north of Chicago and 14 miles west of Lake Michigan. Its central location puts residents within a 15-minute drive to major regional shopping centers, golf courses, beaches, state parks, Six Flags Great America and more.

While home to about 20,000 residents, businesses and industry, open space is, and will be, the largest land use in Grayslake. The Village has approximately 3500 acres of open space and environment protection areas including hundreds of acres of community parks.

Grayslake's Village Center includes the historic downtown business district and many recreational facilities including an aquatic center, skate park, public library, schools and Central Park. The College of Lake County, the High Technology Campus, and the Center for Economic Development are all located within Grayslake. The University Center of Lake County opened in 2005 as a partnership between 17 colleges and universities enabling area residents to obtain bachelor and master degrees in a wide variety of fields from various accredited institutions throughout the state.

The community is served by three elementary school districts dedicated to providing quality education to Grayslake children. The 34,000 square foot Grayslake Library provides residents with everything from state of the art computers and internet access to the newest research and reading materials.
